ISSLS

The International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine

The ISSLS, with a distinguished worldwide membership, is dedicated to advancing the knowledge of health and disease of the lumbar spine. Founded in 1974 and with an active membership limited to 250 individuals, it meets formally on an annual basis around the world.

The ISSLS is truly multidisciplinary including input and interaction from anaesthesiology, basic research, chiropractic, engineering, internal medicine, neurosurgery, orthopaedic surgery, physical therapy, physical medicine, psychiatry, psychology, and radiology.

Members and non-members may attend and present scientific information at the annual meeting. ISSLS supports fellowships in clinical and basic research and annually awards the ISSLS PRIZE with DePuy AcroMed for distinguished lumbar spine research efforts in the clinical, bioengineering, and basic science areas and the ISSLS Stryker Lifetime Achievement Award.

SPINE is the official publication of ISSLS. Information about the ISSLS and its activities are available on our website: www.issls.org.

SpineWeek in Porto presents a unique venue for our annual meeting for members of ISSLS to interact with representatives of other spine related organizations. We look forward to sharing and learning in our quest to improve the understanding of afflictions of the lumbar spine and their treatment.
