E-CSRS

Cervical Spine Research Society - European Section

The European society was founded in 1983 in Pavia, Italy by Prof. Mario Boni. It was inspired by the American society, which had been created in 1973. Since its conception the society grew to a broadly recognized authority concerning problems of the cervical spine. The present membership includes leading experts in the field of cervical spine surgery and represents most European countries.

The annual meeting is organized every year in a different European city. Oral presentations, guest lectures and round tables as well as a poster session are harmoniously mixed. Scientific knowledge of the pathology of the cervical spine with an emphasis on surgical procedures is exchanged. However, clinically relevant basic biomechanical aspects and conservative treatment modalities are also most welcome.

Every year, the Mario Boni award is attributed by the scientific committee to the best oral presentation. In addition to the scientific exchange, we maintain a close friendship between the members of the society, including their families. We therefore organize social events to which everybody is most welcome.

In Geneva, we will hold our 24nd annual meeting. For this occasion, our meeting will be mainly (but not exclusively) dedicated to the pathology of the Upper Cervical Spine. This area of the spine has its specific anatomy and therefore presents characteristic pathological features which are quite distinct from those of the lower cervical spine.

We would like to invite everybody to submit abstracts on this challenging topic. Papers concerning the lower cervical spine are, of course, most welcome as well.

We look forward to seeing you and sharing your experiences at the meeting 2008 in Geneva.
