Since its start in 1985, NASS has grown to more than 4,400 members in 22 spine-related specialties. Join the leading authorities in spine care, representing a multidisciplinary community that includes: orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, radiologists, physiatrists, rheumatologists, pain management specialists, anesthesiologists, osteopathic physicians, psychologists, chiropractors, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, physical therapists, researchers, administrators and all other health care professionals with an abiding interest in the spine. NASS fulfills its mission to advance spine care through a variety of programs designed to meet the needs of spine providers. These include:

The NASS Annual Meeting attracts an international audience by offering symposia featuring world renowned experts speaking on surgical, medical and interventional care; paper presentations announcing results of research on new techniques, treatments, devices and more; special interest group discussions; a technical exhibit hall; premeeting courses and technique workshops; specialty tracks for non-physician providers and other learning opportunities.

In addition to the Annual Meeting, NASS’ Education program offers top-quality, relevant continuing medical education throughout the year at travel destinations around the country.

NASS is among a small percentage of CME providers to hold the prestigious “Accreditation with Commendation” designation from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical

Education (ACCME). Building on this success, NASS opened a new, state-of-the-art Spine Masters Institute outside Chicago that houses the NASS headquarters, a 10 station bioskills lab, classroom and multimedia center with videoconferencing and webcasting capabilities. Members are entitled to special, discounted registration fees for all NASS sponsored educational programs.

  • NASS’ Publishing program produces several periodicals, publications and online resources: The Spine Journal™ is the official scientific, peer-reviewed journal of NASS. Now in its seventh year of publication, the journal has rapidly become a leader in the field and was recognized for its unique contribution to the field by acceptance into Index Medicus/MEDLINE in its second year of publication.

  • SpineLine™, the clinical and news magazine of NASS, features cutting-edge and sometimes controversial articles written by members and experts. SpineLineTM examines current concepts in spine care, medical socioeconomics, ethics and advocacy, and provides information about NASS programs and activities. Find NASS online at www.spine.org.
